How do I find green lanes near me?
Open the Holloway green lane finder, sign in free with your email and tap Find lanes near me. The map centres on you and lists the lanes around you, nearest first, with closed lanes in red and seasonal closures in amber. Tap any lane to see its status and check it in one tap before you ride.
Is Holloway a free green lanes map?
Yes. Browsing the map, finding green lanes near you, seeing which lanes are open or closed, opening 3 lane cards a day, and reporting or suggesting a lane are all free. Each lane's difficulty, length and hazards, route planning, GPX export and live navigation are Holloway Premium, £20 a year.
How do you know a lane is actually legal to ride?
Every lane's classification is built from real data, OpenStreetMap tagging and council rights-of-way records across 149 authorities, not a guess. It's not a guarantee, and not every lane has been individually checked, which is why every lane also gets its own one-tap Legal Status Search so you can check for yourself before you ride.
Does Holloway cover Scotland?
Not yet. Scotland has different access law, motor vehicles are excluded from the right to roam, and no equivalent of England and Wales's definitive-map system, so off-road motor use there is presumptively not legal without a specific known exception. Holloway currently covers England and Wales.
Do I need an account to use the map?
Yes, a free account, just an email, no password or card. Once you're signed in, browsing the map, checking legal status and reporting or suggesting a lane are all free. You only pay if you want Holloway Premium.
What do I actually get with Holloway Premium?
Navigation to any lane, route planning with real road-following connectors between lanes, combined GPX export, live in-app navigation, exact coordinates, live weather, a lane mud forecast and street view where available, all for £20 a year. £1 from every membership goes straight toward keeping lanes open and maintained.
Is Holloway a replacement for the Trail Riders Fellowship?
No, and it's not trying to be. The TRF does the real work of defending rights of way and keeping lanes legally open. If you can only afford one membership, make it theirs. Holloway Premium adds route planning and navigation for the day itself, on top of that, not instead of it.
