Terms of service

Last updated 30 July 2026

By using Holloway, whether the main app, the standalone grading tool, or a suggestion form, you agree to these terms. Holloway shows public rights of way, primarily Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) and similar routes, sourced from OpenStreetMap and community contributions, intended to help riders plan legal off-road motorcycle routes in England and Wales.

Reference only, always verify

This is the most important term. Legal status of a route can change at any time, a Traffic Regulation Order can close a byway with little notice, and the underlying data, even where marked "legal to ride", is drawn from a volunteer-maintained map, not a live feed from any council or authority. Holloway is a reference tool, not a legal guarantee. You are responsible for checking current signage, any posted Traffic Regulation Orders, and the legal status of a route before riding it. Riding a route shown as legal in Holloway does not protect you from prosecution if that status has changed or was wrong.

Member-added lanes

Some lanes are added by other riders and approved by a moderator without independent verification against a definitive map. These are clearly marked "Member-added" in the app, shown in their own colour, with their own filter and a disclaimer wherever they appear. Treat these with extra caution and verify their legal status yourself before riding.

Your account

If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping access to your email secure, since sign-in is by email link alone. Don't share your account, and let us know if you believe someone else has access to it.

Contributions

If you submit a grade suggestion, a missing lane, or a report, you're giving Holloway permission to use, edit, and publish that information as part of the app. Don't submit anything you don't have the right to share, or anything false, defamatory, or intended to mislead other riders about a route's legal status.

Paid features

Certain features are, or will become, part of a paid tier. Holloway does not yet have a working payment system, no paid tier can currently be purchased. When one exists, the price, what's included, and how to cancel will be shown clearly before you pay, and these terms will be updated accordingly.

No warranty

Holloway is provided "as is". We make no guarantee it is accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. Use it at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Holloway and its developer are not liable for any loss, injury, fine, or damage arising from your use of the app, including reliance on lane data, route plans, or GPX exports.

Changes

We may update these terms, or the app itself, at any time. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
