Will your feet reach?
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 Extreme has a 910mm seat. Enter your inside leg for a rough idea of how much foot you'll get down when stopped.
A rough guide only. A wide seat needs more leg than a narrow one, the suspension settles 20 to 40mm under you, and boots add a little. Many bikes offer a low seat or lowering link. Sit on one before you buy.
Range against similar bikes
Real-world range from tank size and typical economy, against the bikes closest to it in weight and type. Out on the lanes, fuel stops are often further apart than on a road ride.
Range only. Hard off-road riding and headwinds use more fuel, so plan fuel stops with margin.
Tyres that fit the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Extreme
It runs a 90/90-21 front and a 150/70-18 rear, on Dunlop Trail Max Raid from the factory. 44 tyres in our Tyre Finder are made in at least one of those sizes, ranked by green lane score.
Sizes are for the standard UK model and can change between model years. Check the size on your own tyre sidewall, and ask your dealer before fitting a different size. Our size lists come from maker and retailer listings and can miss sizes, so a tyre shown for one end may still be made in your other size. Check the maker's size chart.

What we actually found
The Extreme takes the standard T7's small-tank chassis and adds longer-travel KYB suspension (230mm front, 220mm rear), a taller seat, wider footpegs, a sump guard, a chain guard and radiator protection. Enduro21 found it a more capable off-road bike than the standard model, and Motorcycle News rated it 4 out of 5, saying the small tank chassis handles tight technical trails better than the heavier World Raid. The cost is height: a 910mm seat is a real hurdle on gates and cambered lanes.
Pros for green laning
- Long travel: 230mm front and 220mm rear travel soaks up ruts, rocks and washouts better than the standard bike.
- Off-road equipment as standard: wider footpegs, a sump guard, a chain guard, a higher front mudguard and radiator protection.
- Lighter than the World Raid: Motorcycle News says the 16 litre tank chassis handles tight, technical trails better.
- Strong, tractable twin: 73.4hp and 68Nm are plenty for climbs and slippery surfaces, and the engine is praised as cracking.
Cons and limitations
- Very tall: a 910mm seat is 20mm higher than the World Raid, which is a real problem for shorter riders on uneven lanes.
- Weight: 205kg wet is a struggle to pick up from a bog.
- Wide stock tyres: Enduro21 says the Dunlop Trail Max Raid fitment is wide, so a narrower enduro tyre will not fit without a different rim.
- Price: around 11,000 pounds at launch, much more than the A2 middleweights.
